Solidarity Week is a special time in POVEDA when we remember the legacy of our founder, Saint Pedro Poveda, and follow his example of living in solidarity - being one, especially with those who need our help the most.
We opened the week-long celebration with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as the universal Church observed the 9th World Day of the Poor in this Jubilee Year of Hope, reminding us of our mission to love and serve those on the margins. During the Mass, we also commemorated the Memorial of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, a princess who embraced simplicity and compassion, seeing Christ in the poor.
On behalf of the POVEDA community, Ms. Charisse Raagas, our college president, also joyfully greeted Fr. Ricky Montañez, our school chaplain, on his 14th priestly anniversary.
🤍 As a community, we wore white shirts as a concrete stand against corruption, a call for truth and justice, and a sign of solidarity with those who continue to suffer because of injustice.
