History of Saint Pedro Poveda College

1960
Saint Pedro Poveda College, known then as the INSTITUCIÓN TERESIANA School in Manila, opened in 1960 with Kinder and Primary classes run and managed by the first Spanish and Filipino members of the Teresian Association.
Late 60s and Early 70s
It offered Preschool, Elementary and High School Education. The first batch of High School students graduated in 1971.
On December 3, 1974, the birth centennial of Pedro Poveda, Institución Teresiana School changed its name to POVEDA LEARNING CENTRE as a tribute to him. That same year, UNESCO honored Pedro Poveda as “Humanist and Educator.”
2005
As a continued response to transform Philippine Society, a tertiary or collegiate level was established and began the academic year 2005 - 2006. With the expansion into tertiary education, the school’s name was then changed to SAINT PEDRO POVEDA COLLEGE as another tribute to the founder who was canonized saint in 2003.
2021
The Covid-19 pandemic saw the school adapt to the call of the times, which was to conduct classes online. In this regard, R.I.S.E (Remote Independent Self-paced Education), the school’s distance learning program, was conceptualized as the newest educational offering.
