From Philippines to Spain — learning knows no borders 🇵🇭🤝🇪🇸

Last June 2 to 20, 2025, ten (10) students from POVEDA went to the Universidad Autonóma de Madrid (UAM) in Spain for a three-week Spanish Language Summer Immersion Program designed only for Povedans.

The program was intentionally developed for POVEDA students who are eager to improve their Spanish through active classroom learning and immersive cultural experiences in Madrid. By living and studying for three weeks in the city, students engaged with native speakers and practiced conversational Spanish in real-world settings. The experience included intensive language classes at the university, cultural excursions to iconic sites like the Prado Museum and Retiro Park, and hands-on activities to experience local traditions and culinary activities. Supervised by seasoned UAM instructors and POVEDA teachers, the program ensured both educational enrichment and student safety. Ultimately, the program gave the Povedans a meaningful way to grow linguistically, connect with a new culture, and form lasting memories.

The Spanish Language Summer Immersion Program is in partnership with the Study Abroad Program of the UAM. It is scheduled at the end of the academic year.
