Saint Pedro Poveda College, in proud partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, had the distinct privilege of hosting Prof. Tessa Maria Guazon, Head Curator of the UP Vargas Museum on August 3, 2025 for the workshop titled “Understanding History and Culture in the Context of Philippine Art.” 🌏✨
Prof. Guazon is renowned for her influential curatorial work throughout Southeast Asia, with notable contributions to projects such as the Southeast Asia Neighborhoods Network and Notes for Tomorrow. During the workshop, she guided our educators through an insightful journey, illustrating how art, akin to language, functions as a channel for history, culture, and identity.
This enriching experience reinforced the idea that both wika (language) and sining (art) are powerful instruments for nurturing critical thinking, empathy, and cultural pride within our classrooms.
A heartfelt thank you to Prof. Guazon and all the educators who participated. As we commemorate Buwan ng Wika, let us continue to breathe life into our culture and identity through the vibrant expressions of art and language. 🇵🇭💛
