    • Fresh Magic: A Look at the SCOP Campaign 2007

By Lourisse Miller, HS IV-B |

Candidates who ran for next year’s student council, experienced a week of pressure as they campaigned from February 7 – 14, 2007.  They shared their platforms room-to-room, despite all the session tests, quizzes, projects, reports and IW’s due that week.

This year’s official roster of candidates included two parties, FRESH (Friends Reaching Ends with Service from the Heart) and MAGIC (Move. Act. Give. Inspire. Commit.).  There was also the one and only independent candidate who ran for Grade 5 Representative, Patricia Rubinas.

The campaign period ended with the Miting De Avance held February 14.  Candidates were given the opportunity to speak more in-depth about their platform to the voting student body. Elections were held on February 16.  The newly-elected officers of SCOP School Year 2007-2008 are the following:

      Chairperson:
      Steff Maceda (FRESH)

      Vice-Chairperson:
      Bea Trinidad (MAGIC)

      Assistant PRO:
      Pammy Macasaet (FRESH)

      Senior Representative:
      Patch Pangilinan (FRESH)

      Junior Representative:
      Patty Andamo (FRESH)

      Sophomore Representative:
      Nikki Porter (FRESH)

      Freshman Representative:
      Chelsea Antonio (MAGIC)

      Gr. 7 Representative:
      Bea Reyes (FRESH)

      Gr. 6 Representative:
      Pia Trinidad (MAGIC)

      Gr. 5 Representative:
      Maxinne Mendiola (FRESH)

The student body can look forward to next year’s SCOP activities, which includes proposals for family days, concerts and fairs, despite a gym under construction. Good luck, SCOP S.Y. 2007-2008!
